General Job Description:
General Functions
Documents financial transactions by entering account information
Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Secures financial information by completing data base backups
Maintains financial security by following internal controls
Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications
Contributes to team effort by performing related duties and other tasks, as assigned
Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments, and identify and suggest improvements for accounting reporting and recording procedures
Comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance
Continue ongoing education by participating in webinars, workshops, and networking events
Performs mid-level general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel
Support timely monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts
Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets
Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
Knowledge of:
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
Ability to reconcile accounts
General principles and practices of accounting
Applicable laws, forms, procedures, rules, and regulations for processing and recording financial transactions
Research and reporting methods, techniques, and procedures
Principles and practices of effective customer service
Modern equipment and communication tools used for business functions and for programs to conduct research, assess information, and/or prepare documentation
Knowledge of computers and software programs, including Quick books and Microsoft programs
Ability to:
Perform technical and administrative work in areas such as fiscal recordkeeping and accounting systems
Accurately maintain records, reports and files
Apply accounting principles to the maintenance of general governmental financial and accounting transactions and to the audit of financial records
Interpret, and apply the policies, procedures, laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to accounting programs and functions
Complete various reports to meet federal and state reporting requirements
Qualifications
3-5 years of prior Accounting experience
Proficient in Accounting Software (QuickBooks), TSheets, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Sheets and Google drive
Internship or professional accounting experience
Ability and willingness to keep and maintain confidentiality
Familiarity with accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently
Have working knowledge of the cannabis industry and cannabis products.
Have knowledge regarding current cannabis laws and regulations
Must be comfortable and professional while discussing cannabis with members of the public
Self-driven and able to problem solve in a complex industry
Ability to multi-task in a hectic work environment
Strong organizational skills
Minimum of 21 year of age
