Seeking caring person to visit my high-energy grandmother weekly (Goleta, CA)

My grandmother lives independently in Goleta, CA. She is 87 years old, completely sharp, has no serious health issues, and loves gardening. Thankfully, she has a close group of friends in the area, and they have been helping each other out a lot.

Seriously, her garden is amazing.

My mom and I both live far away and haven’t been able to visit during covid. Though we speak with her daily and it seems like she’s doing well, we worry that we’re not there to pick up on any issues as they arise.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

We’re looking for someone who lives nearby in the Santa Barbara area who can visit her for one hour each week, talk to her, help her with any small tasks she has around the house, and generally make sure she’s ok.

Each time you visit, you’ll send us a short note about how she’s doing.

If you notice any changes from week to week, or notice something around the house that needs to be taken care of, you’ll let us know and we’ll figure out how to proceed.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

You’re smart, caring, and friendly. You’re an excellent listener who knows how to give someone their full attention and how to be engaging in conversation.

You have a flexible schedule and are potentially available to help if issues arise that are outside the scope of a weekly visit.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience caring for or working with elderly people, either professionally or in their own family.

Previous experience as social worker, nurse, or teacher A, but not required.

Must be able to pass background check.

COMPENSATION

Our budget is $40 per 1-hour weekly visit. We will pay hourly if any issues arise that require more of your time.
