Photonics Lead Layout Engineer

The Photonics Layout Lead will responsible for the delivery of the GDS files of all optical circuits for all fabs assigned to the layout team, managing the layout team deliverables structural improvements and procedures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This list is not all inclusive. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.

Deliver layout files in GDS or other format for Si photonic devices;

Coordinate layout team and be responsible for its deliverables;

Continuous improvement, updating and maintaining the RP scripts and building block library based on design requests, design requirements, process flow documentation and design rules, in order to have a robust, flexible, quick and DRC-free way to implement new devices in RP circuits;

Implement design automation techniques for error-proof and fast layout design, including design-generated schematics for LVS and interfacing between simulation, design, and layout software;

Implement checklists to guarantee that features required by multiple teams are added to the layout as required (design, measurement, packaging, process);

Be responsible for organizing layout material and ensure procedures are implemented and sign-off respected, within team and with other teams, external and internal;

Standardize and formalize guidelines for layout scripting best practices, organizing training on how to use layout software to develop the building block for their own device;

Support the update and implementation of the design / layout / process interaction flow.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

BSc in related field required; MSc preferred;

Minimum 5 years design flow experience, project management;

Minimum 5 years of experience in scripting;

Minimum 5 years of experience in layout design, photonics layout strongly preferred

Experience with industry standard EDA tools from Cadence, Mentor and / or Synopsys a plus

Experience in developing test structures and design rules;

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with partners / suppliers / other departments;
