POSITION SUMMARY :

Supplier and Category Business Management of Suppliers and the strategic sourcing of the Supply Chain in support of Cepheid’s deliverables.

Position will include the various aspects of commodity management- SCM project planning, category strategies, regional localization, design for cost and manufacturability, technology assessment and development at Suppliers, material cost safeguarding, supply chain planning & execution, data-based decision making, material lifecycle and continuity of supply management, and Supplier quality.

Core responsibilities will include category strategy development, strategic sourcing, and NPI sourcing alignment. Coordination with multiple factory locations Globally.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

Serves as a single point of contact for the Supply Chain team for the Suppliers and Category of responsibility.

Forms and leads cross-functional teams (comprised of Suppliers, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, and other members as required) to define sourcing strategies and sourcing plans for new products, including recommendations for new supplier selection & evaluation as part of NPI activity.

Lead in Supplier Quality, Forecasting, Logistics Models, and Supplier performance management and evaluation.

Manages the transition of new products or changes from development to pilot production then to volume production as needed

Manage the costs at the manufacturing partner site for the facility and associated overhead in addition to product costs.

Address any compliance related issue specific to managed material with the appropriate subject matter experts

Negotiate supply agreements with strategic suppliers and act as the primary interface with the Suppliers under area of responsibility.

Manages the supplier and supplier relationship and act as a central point for escalation for area of responsibility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Education or Experience (in years) :

Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR

Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience OR

Doctoral degree in field with 3+ years of work experience.

Knowledge and skills :

Perform regular cost rollups and analyze product cost performance and manufacturing cost models to drive corrective action as required to achieve product cost targets, and manage the product cost roadmap.

Fundamental understanding of should-cost or cost allocation & recognizes opportunities to improve product design for cost / quality / delivery.

Work collaboratively with supply chain operations managers, marketing, and engineering stakeholders; develop supplier selection process for piece parts or outsourced assemblies and identify supply chain risks supporting sourcing decisions.

Fundamental understanding of manufacturing methods and integration planning for outsourced manufacturing

Responsible for resolving discrepancies between cost targets and quoted costs, creates and delivers presentations to program executives and CFT stakeholders

Provides feedback to engineering on DFx (cost, manufacturability), and manages resources to drive the assessment

Develops, aligns and implements commodity and / or supplier strategies as part of sourcing localization of material and services.

Negotiates and manages the maintenance of agreements with suppliers that provide the structure for all business relationships between Cepheid and the supply base.

Engages with the PLC process to ensure alignment with the commodity strategies.

Directs new supplier introduction and / or disengagement requirements to / from the strategic supply base.

Drives resolution to systemic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery, assets, regional logistics

Develops and presents high level cost reduction opportunities

Regularly monitor macro and micro economic activity that may impact the supply chain continuity of supply and costs

Ensure compliance with Regional specific directives aligned with the company strategy, i.e., Make in India, Make in China, Remote factory manufacturing, etc

Physical requirements / abilities :

Some travel domestically and internationally is required (35%)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (optional) :

Direct or related industry technical program management experience

Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point, Agile, and SAP

Ability to read and interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's)

Must be a self-starter and be able to operate independent of day to day supervision

Direct experience leading cross-functional teams

Self-starter with the ability to adapt, critical thinking skills, and problem solve under pressure
