The Access Control Technician works on a variety of electronic and mechanical access control systems. Installs, repairs and maintains a variety of networked access systems and stand-alone access systems.

Utilizes existing multi-level master key systems, cuts keys, aides in maintaining accurate key holder records and re-keys locks as needed.

Installs, repairs and replaces building, door and mechanical hardware. Repairs door / frame assemblies and components thereof.

Provides other security and access control support, including parking lot access, and safe access. Performs other duties as needed.

High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum two years experience in Locksmithing, Access Control or related field required.

Minimum one certification from the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI), Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA), American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM) or Safe and Vault Technician Association (SAVTA) preferred.

Valid Driver’s License required at time of hire.

Knowledge of Locksmithing. Knowledge of electronics standards and low voltage standards. Basic knowledge of NFPA80, 101, & 105.

ANSI A156.10 & A156.19, CBC Chapter 10, Title 24. Knowledge of door and hardware manufacturers. Able to read; write legibly;

speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g.

Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate / troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others;

work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone;

think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve;

recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary;

hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace;

see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
