Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Director of Total Rewards based in our Roseville office. As a valued member of the HR leadership team reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director of Total Rewards will provide leadership and oversight of the administration of compensation, benefits and HRIS.

The role will manage and scale a team of compensation and benefit professionals. Responsible for the design, planning, policies, communication and implementation of total rewards related initiatives across compensation and benefits programs.

Will work strategically to develop, modify or enhance the overall total rewards strategy for the bank.

What you will do :

Oversee and manage all aspects of compensation including, but not limited to incentive plans, bonus plans, phantom stock, LTIP, SERPS, retiree plans, deferred compensation.

Develop and implement total reward initiatives including benchmarking existing company compensation and benefit plans against market data.

Develop specific recommendations for benefit and compensation enhancements that support bank financial objectives while being cost effective.

Design new plans and amend existing plans as deemed necessary to be competitive in the market and to be in compliance with all federal and state regulations.

Develop communication material to inform or educate employees with respect to total rewards.

Analyze key data related to total rewards and utilize the system to create consistent reports.

Present confidently in front of the board or executives along with being the subject matter expert related to all aspects of total rewards.

Administer all plans according to the plan document insuring that all participants are aware and understand plan benefits.

Ensure all plans are in compliance with state and federal regulations including the IRS and Department of Labor.

Complete and file annual 5500 financial statements to the Department of Labor and the IRS and Summary Annual Reports to all plan participants.

Oversee annual 401K plan audit including all plan non-discrimination testing.

Complete industry and other salary surveys to ensure competitiveness of compensation practices.

Insure Health and Welfare plan expenses are at a minimum by analyzing claims reports and addressing areas of excessive cost by initiating various cost containment programs such as the company wide wellness program.

Manage vendor relationships including insurance brokers, plan carriers, consultants to ensure competitive and compliant compensation and benefit offerings.

Manage and ensure all compensation and benefit plans are compliant with all local, state and federal laws and regulations including but not limited to FLSA, Fair Pay Act, AAP and ERISA.

Oversee the specification, development and implementation of new or redesigned systems, reports and policies and procedures for internal use.

Who you are :

BA or BS degree required.

10+ years’ relevant experience in compensation and benefits planning.

Expertise in development of strategy and administration of compensation and benefits.

Significant compensation, executive compensation and benefits plan experience.

Demonstrated success in organizing a company for improved efficiency, while planning for the future management needs of a high growth, performance-based environment.

Excellent leadership and communication skills with proven ability to attract, develop and motivate the talent required for current and future business needs.

Team player with the ability to build consultative relationships both within and outside the HR team.

Data-driven with a strong ability to analyze data, turning data into insights and action plans aligned with company goals.

Outstanding people leadership skills in hiring and developing talent.

Ability to deliver total reward programs that uphold the philosophy of the bank as a whole.

Impeccable discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.

Experience with leading practices and providing external trends in compensation, benefits and HR systems.

Excellent priority setting skills with the flexibility and adaptability to respond to shifting business needs.

Expert knowledge of compensation and benefits regulations; working knowledge of state, federal, and global employment law.
