AutoReqId: 11227BRLine Of Business: AggregatesDepartment: OperationsPrimary Location: Santa Margarita-CAJob Posting:Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Area Operations Manager for our Sand and Gravel Quarries and Asphalt production plants in the Central CoastReporting to the Area General Manager, the Area Operations Manager will have daily oversight of 2 locations on the Central Coast located in Santa Margarita and Sisquoc.The successful candidate will have overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, safety, environmental, profit and loss statement analysis and other production-related activities. The position ensures compliance with all standards, policies and regulations for a safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product.Lehigh Hanson is one of the largest suppliers of heavy building materials to the construction industry in North America. The Group employs around 52,500 people at 2,500 locations in more than 40 countries.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

In partnership with local ESH staff, continue to develop and maintain high levels of safety performance throughout the operations.

Working closely with the area sales and quality control groups, ensure adherence to internal and external quality control requirements for all aggregate products, while balancing customer demand and production capabilities to manage inventory levels and minimize waste.

Manage the plant in order to meet and exceed budget and KPI targets.

Generate accurate forecasts and short/long term financial plans. Profit and Loss Statements analysis experience.

Manage the maintenance of the plant and equipment in order to ensure maximum availability and utilization, while minimizing cost.

Utilizing your comprehensive knowledge of mining and processing techniques and equipment, continuously evaluate opportunities for process improvement, productivity enhancement and cost reduction within all areas of operations.

Carefully evaluate training, coaching and development opportunities for direct and indirect reports and, in conjunction with area human resources staff, drive growth and development of your management team.

Maintain a high quality of open communication, specifically targeting opportunities to improve communication with internal and external customers at all times.

Proactive interaction with regulatory agencies including City, County, MSHA, CalOSHA, AQMD, Regional Water Quality Control Board.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 5 years’ experience in progressively more responsible production/operations management roles; previous dredging and wet processing experience an asset.

Bachelors’ degree in an engineering discipline such as mining, civil or mechanical or equivalent industry experience/associates degree.

Experience of capital and operating budget creation at the plant level, along with sound knowledge of plant financial reporting. Demonstrated experience in reducing/minimizing operating cost and improving productivity.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate and execute capital projects while allocating resources appropriately to ensure normal business demands are met.

Sound knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations, employment laws and environmental regulations as they apply within mining and processing operations, previous California experience an asset.

Possess a strong personal commitment to safety and the ability to create employee ownership of safety, production, and quality.

Proficient use of standard MS office tools, AutoCAD or similar.
