We currently sell radio controlled cars, trucks, helicopters, airplanes, and drones, through our website at AMainHobbies.com and at our local retail shop. Job Title:Bicycle Mechanic (Full-Time)

Reports to: Bicycle Store Manager, secondary- West Coast Operations Manager

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Summary:

The Bicycle Mechanic position is the forefront technical and mechanical support for the shop and online bicycle support. This role is charged with excellent customer service, scheduling and performing bicycle repairs in a busy full-service shop, and supporting with the sales function as required.

The Bicycle Mechanic position is responsible for writing up repair tickets, making repairs, testing repairs, and communicating with the bicycle owner. The Bicycle Mechanic will support the sales function and shop operations as necessary. The Bicycle Mechanic delivers a professional positive lasting memory of the AMain.com, Inc., experience to all customers, including persons not making a purchase or requesting service- regardless of their riding skill, or mechanical knowledge. This role is critical to the customer experience, shop operations and teamwork.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform bicycle repair, maintenance, and walk-in services on customer’s bicycles as needed.

Oversee mechanic services in the shop.

Support shop manager

Welcome customers by greeting them; offering them assistance and ascertain what each customer is shopping for.

Direct customers by escorting them to racks and counters; suggesting items and services.

Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise or services based on customer needs and desires.

Help customer make selections by building customer confidence. Describe merchandise and explain use, or demonstrate operation and care of merchandise to customers.

Maintain knowledge of current technologies, activities, sales and promotions.

Place special orders or call suppliers to find desired items.

Keep clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.

Answer incoming telephone calls. Take special orders via phone, in an effective and timely manner.

Transfer customer calls to appropriate staff.

Report any concerns or discrepancies to the Manager.

Communicate ideas for better organization, smoother workflow, suggestions, etc, to Manager.

Prepare sales slips or sales contracts, total purchases, and receive and process cash or credit payments.

Understand company return and exchange policies. Explain policies to customers and accept returns as needed.

Stock, arrange and display merchandise to promote sales.

Clean shelves, counters, windows, bathroom, floors and tables on a daily basis.

Inventory stock and requisition new stock through the Manager.

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related store tasks as needed or directed by Manager.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Occasionally lift and/or move 10-50 lbs.

Must be able to walk up and down stairs.

Regularly stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk. Frequently walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Vision requirements: Close (clear vision at 20 inches or less), Distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Peripheral (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).

Moderate Noise (examples: retail store with computers, printers, customers talking, light traffic).

Skills and Education/Experience:

Must have previous Bicycle Mechanic Experience.

Language skills: Basic skills required; Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical skills: Basic skills required; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.

Reasoning Ability: Basic skills required; Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer literate (knowledge of Excel, Word, E-mail, Internet) with the ability to learn new software applications.

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of bicycle mechanics and technology.

Ability to type at least 25 wpm .

Previous customer service experience necessary (6 months or more experience).

Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing business environment.

Professional organizational skills.

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Knowledge of remote control cars, helicopters, planes, is helpful, but not necessary.

Must be available for work approximately 40 hours per week; weekends can be mandatory.

Attention to detail a must.

No Degree Required.
