Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The selected candidate works directly on the F-35 program with the Program Quality Manager to mitigate high quality impact issues with the customer and executive leadership.

Manages and facilitates deliverables to the program relative to program requirements such as Preventive Corrective Action Boards, defect deep dives, and action items relative to customer requests.

Additionally will assist with supplier disclosures, mitigation of escapes to customers, high impact Root Cause Corrective Actions, Key Characteristic management, Interchangeable and Replaceable feature management, and process improvements for the program.

Essential Functions :

Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and / or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and 2 years' experience in related quality engineering to include manufacturing, stress and design, or liaison engineering OR a Master's Degree

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications :

SAP Business System experience

MES experience

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification

Working knowledge of AS9100D

Project Management skill set

F-35 Program experience

Experience selecting and coordinating key metrics and subsequently presenting meaningful data for project review, and ability to generate and analyze quantitative data

Experience facilitating effective Root Cause Corrective Action
