We are seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team!
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are people who work directly with individuals we support who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. We train and work with our employees, with the aim of assisting the individual to become as independent as possible and to be fully integrated into his/her community.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
No experience necessary as we do training internally
Minimum of high school diploma or demonstrated equivalent
Valid driver's license and be insurable
Experience or a genuine and sincere interest in working with adults or children with disabilities within a home or employment/community integration setting. You must want to promote independence, socialization, and demonstrate kind treatment, dignity and respect
Must be able to stoop, bend, lift, and carry at least fifty (50) pounds of weight without assistance when performing household duties, shopping, or assisting individuals supported
Must be able to lift and/or help transfer individuals who require physical assistance to engage in active and mobile lives and community activities
To actively participate in developing and implementing person centered plans to meet the needs of the individuals we support
To document on required forms to all activities related the supports of people and operations of the home or work site
Assist with medical and medication supports and management
To follow written behavior support strategies, including completion of all documentation requirements
Basic understanding and experience with computers and programs; prior knowledge or experience with Therap preferred
Must be available to work evenings and weekends
