From personalized service to professional education programs and marketing support, Ormco is committed to helping orthodontists achieve their clinical and practice management objectives.Operating Company:SparkJob Description:Role Overview/Summary:Key responsibilities of the Advanced Mechanical Engineer involve the research and development of new product features, and the scaling and deployment of innovative ideas to production.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Support all engineering aspects in the innovation and commercialization lifecycles of new product features.

Develop and prototype concept designs; test, evaluate, and iterate until concept is proven.

Design and develop engineering testing apparatus and protocols.

Develop potential manufacturing processes and procurement specifications.

Create CAD models and corresponding feature data to support 3D software development.

Develop product performance specification requirements, engineering documentation, and design criteria.

Support the development of applicable regulatory documentation and engineering activities related to medical device compliance (510(k), DHF, CE Tech File, etc).

Support research activities related to the biomechanics of orthodontic treatment.

Support activities related to prior arts investigations and patent filing.

Communicate with stakeholders on progress, timeline, and challenges.

Job Requirements:REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 5 years of experience in product development/engineering and concept prototyping.

Strong experience with 2D/3D CAD; versatile in mastering different CAD software packages.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to describe and explain technical concepts to a cross-functional audience in a clear and succinct manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Master’s Degree in Engineering disciplines.

Solid understanding in statistical analysis for engineering applications.

Experience in biomechanics research is a plus.

Critical Success Factors :

Industry experience and demonstrated ability in concept prototyping for rapid turn-arounds of design iterations.

Critical thinking skills; ability to conduct independent research and convert the learnings into actionable ideas effectively and efficiently.

Ability to think out of the box.

Willingness to be hands-on in prototyping, engineering testing, and manufacturing process development.

Attention to details and a relentless pursuit of `what good looks like’.

Ability to draw meaningful insights from statistical data.

Excellent team skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers, clinical consultants, outside research partners, vendors and cross-functional team members.
