A. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled activities in the maintenance and repair of assigned facilities, utilities and equipment including tasks in carpentry, electrical work, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), construction, plumbing and painting.

B. SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the supervision of the CEO.

C. SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

This position does not involve supervisory duties.

D. QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalence.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in facilities maintenance.

Current California driver’s license, with an acceptable DMV printout and insurability, minimum of a 3 year driving history.

Ability to pass a DOJ criminal background check.

Ability to pass CPR and First Aid course.

Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, terminology and equipment used in the building maintenance trades including electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and painting.

Ability to maintain facilities, utilities and equipment in good repair.

Ability to operate a wide variety of hand and power tools and equipment.

Knowledge of mathematics applicable to the building trades.

Knowledge of applicable building codes, ordinances, fire regulations and safety precautions.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and practices.

Knowledge of proper lifting techniques.

Ability to observe health and safety regulations.

Ability to complete tasks in indoor and outdoor work environments, occasionally in extreme weather conditions.

Regular exposure to fumes, dust, dirt, oil / grease.

E. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows all procedures, policies, and guidelines of North Valley Services.

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled activities in the maintenance and repair of designated facilities, utilities and equipment including tasks in carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, construction, plumbing and painting.

Receives, prioritizes and responds to work orders in a timely and efficient manner.

Repairs or fabricates articles and structures of wood or related materials such as doors, partitions, counters and furniture; repairs and replaces hardware; repairs floors, walls, ceilings, roofs and windows; repairs and installs locks and security devices.

Performs a variety of skilled plumbing duties in the maintenance and repairs of faucets, drinking fountains, toilets, urinals, sinks, pipes, valves, pumps and other fittings and fixtures; inspects and repairs leaks, obstructions and general system failures.

Organizes and lays out maintenance, repairs, installations and construction tasks; estimates time, materials and equipment requirements for assigned projects.

Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools and equipment such as drills, saws, presses, grinders and pallet jacks.

Assembles, moves and arranges various furniture and equipment as directed; loads and unloads equipment and supplies.

Monitors inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment; orders, receives and maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and equipment.

Communicates with personnel and various outside agencies to exchange information.

Maintains various records related to safety, expenses, work orders, project status and assigned activities.

Climbing ladders and working from heights.

Standing for extended periods of time.
