The Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Products (“Data Analyst”) will support the Director, Data & Business Intelligence Products through a combination of data analysis and data engineering to extract, transform, and load data from a variety of sources into specified target formats for consumption into BI tools.

The Data Analyst will also be required to elicit requirements for reporting from business domain experts and translate those requirements into deliverable technical work products and thorough associated documentation.

This position requires an individual who can take high-level direction on a task and operate with a high degree of independence in delivery. This role requires provable intermediate level experience in data integration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Provide data integration support for the technical development of features for a complex data analytics environment that conforms disparate data from multiple sources, and which can support multiple types of data ingestion processes such as batch, streaming, and real-time APIs.

  • Build new components and augment existing components of a data and analytics platform that can ingest various data types (structured, semi-structured, unstructured), and provide insight into the reliability of the unified data.
  • Support build-out of a data ingestion frameworks as needed for a variety of analytical needs throughout the organization, under the supervision of a lead data architect.
  • Work with business subject matter experts throughout the organization to scope requirements for a BI implementations.
  • Partner with the Innovation department to create new ways of integrating Impact Data and exploratory analytics across our ecosystem.
  • Be part of the Data Insights & Research Team to define, build and optimize our core analytics and data structures.
  • Collaborate with United Way partners (United Way leaders, vendors and constituents) in the process of mapping and the migration of sources and inventory into UWW’s shared digital environment (Shared CRM, Enterprise Architecture, etc.).
  • Thoroughly document all work products.
  • Have excellent client interaction, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Comfortable and able to challenge conclusions and impact business outcomes.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams to get desired results.
  • Strong analytical skills and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized and proficient at multi-tasking and summarizing observations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Two years working in data analysis and data engineering roles, with experience analyzing and managing diverse data types and ETL data pipelines.

  • Proven experience with large-scale data integration efforts.
  • Experience with database management, relational databases and data structures, development of business-oriented data models, and advanced SQL skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and resolve complex data issues and inaccuracies to improve data quality and trust in data across global organizations.
  • Must be able to establish and develop strong relationships with departmental and organizational leaders, and champion a culture of teamwork, continuous learning and improvement while upholding our core values.
  • Demonstrated accuracy with details and commitment to high standards of quality.
  • Prior consulting experience preferred.
  • Previous work experience as an analyst or a strong analytic background.
  • Data mapping competencies and ability to understand systems architecture and programming constructs such as APIs, data models and Entity Relationship (ER) diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of information retrieval programs (Focus, Business Objects) and tools: SQL, Excel, Data Analysis Java, etc.
  • Strong Knowledge of Data Concepts (ETL, near-/real-time streaming, data warehousing, data structures, metadata and workflow management, noSQL).
  • Experience in at least one Data Integration Tool (Talend, DataStage, Informatica, SSIS, Ab>Initio).
  • Experience in at least one Database (DB2, HANA, Netezza, Oracle, Redshift, Teradata, Vertica, Snowflake).
  • Experience with Markup Languages (JSON, XML, YAML).
  • Experience with Code Management Tools (Git/GitHub, SVN, TFS).
  • Experience Programming (Python, R, Java, C, etc.).
  • Experience with DevOps Pipelines (Azure Dev Ops, Chef, Docker, Puppet, Bamboo, Jenkins).
  • Experience with Salesforce applications preferred (Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud, Salesforce Non-Profit Success Pack (NPSP), Marketing Cloud, Social Studios, Einstein Analytics).
