Job Summary The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.The Modeling and Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for government and commercial customer needs. We enable detailed and complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of space. What You'll Be Doing:
- Partner with sub-division analysts to advisekey stakeholders and government customers by developing a range of modeling and simulation workflows within the sub-division
- Plan and conductefforts to grow and sustain the sub-division's modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities in teams with multi-disciplinary technical leaders, AerospaceProgram Office personnel, and external customersto define and address customer needs
- Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate software development progress and provide recommended design solutions to technical leads, management, and customers
- Expand the department's modeling and simulation capabilities by advancing the evolution of analysis tools/workflows and by mentoring/training new developers
- Engage with software users and customers to refine capability requirements
- Apply modern development practices in areas including rapid prototyping, parallel computing, cloud computing, and containerization
- Travel as necessary to support customer efforts
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines from an accredited school
- Demonstrated progressively responsible professional or academic post-graduate software development /engineering experience, to include
- Working knowledge of Aerospace customers and industry partners
- History of timely and impactful delivery of technical products in a business setting
- Technical writing and presentation
- Independent technical task and/or team leadership
- Proficiency in one or more of the department's core computer languages (e.g., Fortran, C, Python, Matlab, etc.)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
- Experience in implementing and optimizing modern software for deployment on Windows and Linux platforms
- Graduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other STEM-related discipline from an accredited school
- Academic or professional experience with successfully developing new capabilities for analysis tools, workflows, or related efforts
- Academic or professional experience in space-related modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Academic or professional experience in advanced mathematical or physics topics
- Academic or professional experience in modern software development, integration, and testing practices
- Experience interfacing with program office personnel and government customers
- Significant contribution to a substantial technical analytical or development project through its successful completion
- Current TS/SCI security clearance
- Extensive experience in implementing and optimizing modern software for deployment on Windows and Linux platforms
