For students, for future generations, for the future of education.What You'll ContributeThis position is a hands-on PeopleSoft Techno-Functional support role. The individual manages the production support function for all modules of the corporate general ledger system, PeopleSoft Finance. The individual is responsible for ensuring maximum system availability throughout the month, but especially at peak times during the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting closes. The individual acts as the liaison with the Accounting, IT and Finance teams on various projects, and is the PeopleSoft subject matter expert on all projects. The incumbent will be part of the corporate Financial Systems team and is a significant end-user facing role requiring organization and the ability to work hands-on at all levels within Sallie Mae. The individual also must be able to understand accounting requests and their ultimate impact on financial reporting in order to update PeopleSoft to meet accounting needs and propose alternatives, if required. Extensive functional and technical knowledge of PeopleSoft and a working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting are required.What You'll DoProduction Support & Management
- Ensures timely, accurate and consistent responses for calls to the PeopleSoft help desk.
- Ensures maximum system availability during peak times, troubleshoots and resolves issues in a timely fashion.
- Collaborates with IT on all projects related to PeopleSoft upgrades, enhancements, and bug fixes, and adheres to all internal controls related to change control procedures and testing.
- Maintains a clear communication channel with internal customers informing them of production issues, upcoming outages, and future enhancements / upgrades.
- Ensures process controls are in place and that all staff adhere to strict audit / SOX requirements.
- Works directly with Corporate Financial Reporting (CFR) to develop reporting to meet new reporting requirements, both external and internal.
- Works with accounting and CFR to implement system enhancements and process improvements while ensuring the integrity of the system.
- Works with Accounting and IT on the Integration of acquisitions, in particular - ensure that new Subsidiary Financial Systems are integrated on Company platforms timely and accurately.
- Works with Technical staff to build, maintain, and support all system integrations and/or interfaces.
- Supports inbound and outbound integrations and ensures all run as scheduled and to completion.
- Ensures data integrity is maintained through all interfaces and production processes.
- Main point of contact on all projects related to general ledger related system interfaces.
- Maintains all Chartfields for OneStream and PeopleSoft and ensure the timely transmission of Chartfield data to all external systems.
- Maintains and supports the PeopleSoft to OneStream data flows, and ensure all data is accurately loaded to OneStream on a nightly basis.
- Troubleshoots and corrects data load issues in OneStream, and recalculate the database as necessary to ensure accurate reporting of general ledger data in Hyperion Financial Reports.
- Leads or delegates staff as needed during new implementations, system upgrades, and process improvements that impact the corporate general ledger.
- Approves the production migration of new features and tools that impact the GL.
- Subject matter expert on all PeopleSoft related projects, providing configuration, set-up, reporting, and process expertise.
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of advanced Functional experience in a PeopleSoft Financials environment (specifically GL, AP/PO/T&E, AM, AR/BI, Treasury/Cash Management modules)
- 5+ years of advanced Technical experience in a PeopleSoft PeopleTools (Application Designer, Data Mover, PeopleCode, Build Application Package, App Engine.)
- 3-5 years of experience with nVision and XML Publisher Reports.
- Understanding of Cloud ERP Concepts and Cloud ERP Certification is a Plus.
- Basic understanding of PeopleSoft Tables and technical details.
- Accounting and Financial Reporting experience
- High proficiency with SQL
- Excellent oral and written communication skills at all levels of the organization
- Experience with automated reporting tools and standard desktop applications
- Technical skills needed to develop Queries in PeopleSoft
- Prior experience with enterprise-wide system implementations
- Ability to travel to other Sallie Mae offices, or for training / conferences (
- Prior work with web-based platforms
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access skills
- Interface development and testing
- Advanced experience with automated reporting tools, publishing, distribution and scheduling
- Experience with other reporting packages.
