Manager, Platform & Product Engineering
Job Summary: As Manager, Platform & Product Engineering , you will lead a team of individuals responsible for critical products. You will manage multiple initiatives with engineers across time zones. You will be an integral contributor to the digital transformation of Volvo Cars USA, a leading disruptor in the automotive industry. You will lead and mentor engineering team members in implementing and manage a wide range of capabilities located on-prem and in the cloud. You will also work closely with Digital Product Owners to develop and build products that will continue to inspire a richer data-driven culture at Volvo. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Recruit, grow, and develop the engineering team including employees and overseas contractors.
- Provide leadership around agile development processes and emerging trends in engineering best practices.
- Coordinate the work of Architects, Developers, Business Analysts, Quality Engineers, and Project Managers that operate within stable agile teams to ensure products and services meet requirements and expectations of the stakeholders.
- Represent team capacity and work with the business to prioritize tasks through PI Planning.
- Apply industry experience, process, and tools to improve team operations and to build and maintain a supportive, cooperative, and cohesive work environment.
- Provide delivery schedules and deliver infrastructure requirements that meet the product requirements on schedule.
- Define automation requirements for new job workloads, data integrations, and file transfers.
- Work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, product owners, and business teams.
- Lead troubleshooting of system and performance problems in Prod/QA/Dev environments.
- Set goals and provide feedback for team member's performance reviews.
- Provide one on one coaching and direction for team members.
- Works closely with technical writers to ensure processes are properly document and maintained.
- Experience in the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering and solution design.
- Familiarity with third party platform integration such as Salesforce, MuleSoft and Adobe.
- Past use of Agile/Scrum or similar collaborative tools a plus.
- Knowledge of standard methodologies and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
- Experience with AIX, Oracle, AS/400 (iSeries), Linux, and Cloud (Azure, AWS) is desired.
- Strong oral, written communication skills and presentation skills.
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
- 7+ years in software development.
- 5+ years leading and managing on-site and remote engineering teams.
