Our mission is to develop innovative ways to automate the scaling of our network, reduce manual steps as we scale, and maximizes availability and resiliency of our systems.We are looking for an experienced Firewall Engineer who is passionate about network automation, thrives on close collaboration with cross-functional teams and critical technical challenges, and has customer obsession in mind. The right candidate will demonstrate an innovative and informed perspective, develop pragmatic yet flexible solutions and move forward in the face of ambiguity. The candidate should be willing to build good working relationships within the team and across the Federal Reserve System.You will, have good knowledge of firewall configuration, implementation, and support. It is desirable to have automation experience, DevOps patterns, and mature CICD processes that will help build the next generation of services that enable self-healing for our systems and minimize the work required to deploy and validate the network.You will work in an agile environment as a hands-on technical engineer responsible for all phases of the project development cycle.What You Will Do:

  • Provide support, configuration and maintenance of IT systems to the Federal Reserve system, including incidents, service requests, and projects while maintaining compliance to service level agreements.
  • Monitor and track work requests, customer and incident queues through a computerized tracking system and assume responsibility for incoming requests. Implement and consult on the creation of technical designs and new customer solutions and services.
  • Provide first level analysis, troubleshooting and responses to network events and requests, utilizing tools, resources, documentation and peer support.
  • Communicate with customers, administrators, subject matter experts to facilitate implementation of requests.
  • Occasional after hours and weekend work may be required to perform tasks and maintenance that cannot be done during business hours.

  • Ensures work is in compliance with Federal Reserve standards, policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or other applicable discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience with the following skillsets:
    • Automation development and engineering in large, complex environments with at least 3,000 network and security infrastructure devices (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls) supported by automation
    • Network orchestration in policy-based or software defined methods, skill with Ansible is preferred
    • Advanced Python programming skill and experience with one or more languages, such as Java, C/C, or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge in the following disciplines:
    • Designing and developing microservice solutions using RESTful APIs
    • Infrastructure as Code
    • Employing modern CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tooling.
    • Network and security infrastructure services, systems engineering, cloud network operations, software engineering
    • Routing and switching, next generation firewall, and load balancing
  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Demonstrated ability in coding and maintaining automation services.
  • Strong analytical ability and technical skill, as well as the ability to provide innovative solutions to technical infrastructure needs and business requirements.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in making business decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of data integrity and accuracy.
  • Proficient oral and written communication, ability to interact on required information and concepts with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency translating highly technical information into non-technical terms.
  • Broad knowledge of the concepts, practices, and principles of programming including design, implementation, and testing.
