You will ensure all spacecraft solar arrays will work successfully on orbit by employing proper design practices, test verification, and project management.   • Be the Solar Array expert for the Electrical Power Subsystem
  • Work closely with Program Responsible Engineer to provide support for all programs and ensure solar array test and on-orbit requirements are met
  • Provide solar array on-orbit power predictions for each program
  • Review on-orbit telemetry and correlate with power predictions
  • First-point of contact for solar array photovoltaic (PVA) technical issues on-orbit
  • Document and manage Risk Mitigation Plan for PVA technology
  • Support the procurement, design, and test of solar array PVA
  • Support design activities to develop new, or revised heritage hardware to meet mission specific requirements. Participate in qualification activities. Generate test plans and reports
  • Support formal presentations to the Program Office and Customers such as PDRs, CDRs, TRR/MRRs (as required)
  • Have oversight of managing PVA product line documentation relative to the specific type of hardware e.g. Test Documentation, Performance Parameters
  • Provide buy-off for design validity at reviews of the Subsystem and S/C design
  • Responsible for interface with cognizant engineer for solar array thermal and mechanical predictions
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; will consider other related STEM degrees with appropriate experience
  • A minimum of 5 years photovoltaics engineering experience either in aerospace or terrestrial fields
  • Knowledge of photovoltaic solar array design, qualification and modeling of solar array circuits, including testing and data evaluation required
  • Knowledge/experience of solar cell device physics
  • Knowledge of Electrical circuit analysis and design (DC circuit, and DC power electronics)
  • Knowledge/experience of solar cell manufacturing processes & practices
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a teamwork environment among engineers where friction could easily become a destructive agent
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment supporting assembly and test of electrical hardware
  • Goal Oriented; willing to take responsibility and to be held accountable, particularly for the resolution of interdisciplinary, inter-organizational issues
  • Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to learn quickly, plan, and adapt
  • Must be comfortable interacting with senior leadership, program teams and international suppliers
Preferred Qualifications: (nice to have's)
  • Creo or equivalent 3D modelling/drafting experience preferred
  • Must be willing to support international supplier telecons and on-orbit operations outside of standard business hours
