Exciting times at Aerospace Corporation! We are seeking a dynamic MMIC design engineer to work in the Communication Electronics Department (CED) of the Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA. Apply your creativity to develop and tape-out novel GaN MMIC circuits in next-generation processes to meet the challenges of our government customers. We are investing heavily in our R&D and program support activities related to GaN MMICs and this opportunity is a great fit for an engineer who is excited to tackle every step of the MMIC design cycle, including requirements definition, device modeling, circuit design, EM simulation, assembly, testing, and packaging. You'll also be able to expand your expertise into other microwave technology areas.As consultants to our government customers, our work immediately impacts the direction and development of payloads for both small and large satellites. Location available to support will be El Segundo, CA What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop MMIC designs in support of GaN MMIC capability and reliability studies
  • Test MMIC GaN circuitry using a state-of-the-art wafer probe station and measurement equipment
  • Develop and apply advanced microwave measurement and modeling techniques
  • Perform microwave circuit simulations using ADS or Microwave Office
  • Perform EM simulations using Sonnet, AXIEM, and HFSS
  • Collaborate onsite with fellow engineers and technician
  • Mentor junior technical and technician staff.
This position can be filled as an Aerospace Senior Member of Technical Staff or Engineering Specialist What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements for consideration as a Sr. Member of the Technical Staff:
  • Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 5-years experience with MIC and/or MMIC and/or RFIC design and test (GaN, GaAs, SiGe, and/or InP)
  • Technical experience in the following microwave engineering areas:
    • Microwave circuit theory using ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, MATLAB, Python
    • Measurements and analysis of data obtained using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, AWGs, power meters, load pull tuners, etc.
  • Demonstrated creativity in problem-solving, an ability to rapidly grasp new concepts, and excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Willing to travel domestically approximately 10%
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Minimum Requirements for consideration as an Engineering Specialist (in addition):
  • Minimum of 8-years of industry experience
  • Proficiency using 2.5D or 3D, full-wave electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS Sonnet, Axiem, or EM
  • Demonstrated experience with MIC and/or MMIC design and test
  • Microwave/RF system level analysis
How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Ph.D. in electrical engineering, related engineering, or physics discipline
  • An understanding of device physics, parasitics, and state of the art foundry processes
  • Any experience in the following microwave specialty areas:
    • High-power RF SSPA or TWTA
    • Mixers and/or Low Noise Amplifiers
    • PLL/oscillator design and theory
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance
