This position will support NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Engineering Directorate's Aeroscience Division in a technical lead/integrator capacity across various Human Spaceflight Programs.This is an onsite position at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX.What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the JSC Aeroscience & Flight Mechanics Division (EG) on various programs in the area of Rendezvous, Proximity Ops, Docking, & Undocking (RPODU) flight phase by providing expertise and technical support to the RPODU Mission Segment Lead (MSL), who is responsible for ensuring each technical discipline (GN&C, Avionics, Flight Software, Flight Mechanics, Docking mechanisms, etc.) adequately addresses RPODU requirements.
  • Enable the RPODU MSL to complete the review of appropriate documentation by integrating the Aerospace Corporation support team that you will work with and lead
  • Provide appropriate Aerospace Corporation Team support to all meetings, and coordinate/resolve any issues with the various contractors
  • Serve as a technical specialist and team integrator in addressing any issues and risks associated with the RPODU flight phase
  • Support design reviews and problem resolution for several NASA Programs (Artemis, Orion, Commercial Crew Program, Gateway, Internatonational Space System)
  • Conduct trade studies and analysis
  • Project management and integrating a team of experts
  • Coordinate requirements and technical objectives with subject matter experts and stakeholders
  • Prepare and present decision packages and change requests for program forums
  • Perform other duties for the customer as required
What You Need to Be Successful Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or advanced degree in technical discipline
  • 8 or more years of professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or project management environment with 5 or more years preferably in the space industry
  • Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts
  • Ability to engage on trade studies and analysis
  • Experience working across diverse teams and many different engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge of space flight certification processes to ensure performance and safety requirements are met (including knowledge of NPR 7120, EA-WI-023, or equivalent processes)

  • Human Space Flight experience
  • Knowledge of NASA systems
  • Experience performing in or leading technical and programmatic tasks for NASA
  • Experience with Avionics and Flight Software architectures
  • Experience in developing and/or testing flight software
