THE ROLE

Reporting to the Regional Chief Strategy Officer, the RegionalOrtho / Neuro / Spine Service Line Director - Providence St Joseph Health, Northern California is accountable forleadership, direction and implementation of Ortho / Neuro / Spine Servicesfor St.

Joseph Health, Northern California (NorCal). Working incollaboration with and maintaining a matrixed reporting relationship to theRegional Chief Medical Officer and Regional Chief Operating Officer, the Directorwill lead the effort to standardize care delivery, improve clinical quality andoutcomes across the Region;

reduce clinical and practice variation; improveoperations and financial performance; and develop and implement key strategiesincluded on the NorCal Regional Integrated Strategic & Financial Plan(ISFP).

The Director will also partner with dyad physician andoperational leadership and focus on the following key responsibilities :

Transform delivery of clinicalcare Develop and implement services and program strategies that providean exceptional patient-centered experience by developing a seamless caredelivery system and innovative care models to improve quality outcomes,reduce unnecessary clinical variation and improve coordination across thecontinuum.

Create alignment withphysicians and clinicians Create and implement internal and externalprovider alignment strategies that strengthen seamless and innovative caredelivery and achieve the Quadruple Aim : improved quality,affordability, customer experience and work life balance of clinicians andstaff.

Thrive under new reimbursementmodels Collaborate with the Regional payor contracting team to developprogram strategies and partner with payers, purchasers and providers todevelop reimbursement models that advance seamless and innovative caredelivery by rewarding quality, care coordination and value.

Enhance access by improvingaffordability Develop and implement program strategies to enhance accessto care and improve health care affordability by providing value-basedcare across the continuum and reducing overall administrative and caredelivery expenses.

Grow to meet community needs Create and implement strategies to serve more people throughout thecontinuum of care via appropriate growth and development of programs andservices in existing and new markets.

This includes potential pursuit anddevelopment of academic and community partnerships with otherorganizations.

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with Regional,Ministry, physician and operational leadership and other key stakeholders,develop and successfully implement Regional strategies forOrtho / Neuro / Spine Services (to be included in the ISFP) includingdistribution of clinical services, ministry and market-specific growthplans, capital planning and resource allocation across the continuum.

Develop and implement aphysician alignment and growth strategy across the Region forOrtho / Neuro / Spine Services including medical foundations, medicalgroups, IPAs, and independent practices.

Collaborate with operatingteams and clinical leaders to assure the effective and efficient deliveryof services including patient throughput, patient experience, physicianengagement and satisfaction, quality outcomes, workforce planning,caregiver engagement and standardization.

Develop and overseeOrtho / Neuro / Spine Services operating and capital budgets across theRegion.

Develop and maintain a Regionalbalanced scorecard to monitor and measure key performance goals andoutcomes, including Quadruple Aim goals, program growth, physicianalignment, financial performance and other goals that may beestablished.

Align regional goals with PSJH clinical instituteexecutive and other metrics.

In collaboration with Regionaland System collaboratives, develop and implement evidence-based, bestpractice clinical protocols across the Region to improve health outcomesacross the continuum.

Work with key administrative andphysician leaders to gain consensus.

Collaborate with the Regionalpayor contracting team to develop new financing models to connect programstrategies in support of affordability, high quality and coordination ofcare (e.g., bundled payments).

Collaborate with CommunityHealth Investment, Population Health, and physician leaders to develop andimplement Patient-Centered Medical Home models for complex and / or chroniccare patients.

Develop and coordinate programstrategies for delivery of outreach services, including telehealth.

As administrative dyad lead,represent the Clinical Institute and service line on key System, Regionand Ministry committees to formulate strategies and tactics to achieveidentified goals and objectives.

In collaboration with theClinical Institute, Strategic Services and marketing, establish prioritiesfor program marketing development and outreach designed to support growth.

Assure that all regulatoryrequirements for the Ortho / Neuro / Spine Services are withincompliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications andeducation for this position include :

Bachelor'sDegree in Healthcare Management or Business Administration, or a relatedfield.

Five(5) years regional or hospital experience in business development,planning, operations or equivalent.

Mustpossess Strategic Planning, Business Development, and Operationsbackground.

Mustbe a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; trackrecord of developing collaborative and effective working relationshipswith physicians, clinicians, management, colleagues and peers;

ability tomotivate, lead and influence others to successfully implement keyoperational and clinical improvements, strategies and tactics.

Advancedproblem-solving skills with a strong ability to conduct strategicanalysis, inclusive of the development of financial models andinternal / external research to support business decisions.

Advancedcomputer skills to present information in a meaningful manner.

Strongunderstanding and knowledge of emerging health care trends, market andtechnology trends, including influencing growth, utilization and deliveryof Ortho / Neuro / Spine Services.

Advancedcommunication and interpersonal skills that enable comfortable interactionwith senior executives, boards, physicians, peers, caregivers, communitysectors and outside vendors.

Leadershipskills including ability to prioritize and organize work; flexibility andagility to process information and adapt quickly to a changing healthcareenvironment;

create goals and accountability; lead projects from conceptto implementation; and achieve results. Strong ability toorganize and prioritize in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment withsuccess at simultaneously managing a variety of complex projects.

Mustbe able to assume a high degree of independent functioning, demonstratingprudent decision making, autonomy and flexibility.

Self-motivatedindividual with ability to independently judge, prioritize and accomplishmajor job duties and responsibilities.

Comfortable in a complexmatrix structured organization.

Priorsuccess in treating all information and data within the scope of theposition with appropriate confidentiality and security.

Abilityto cooperate fully in all risk management activities andinvestigations.

Preferred qualifications andeducation for this position include :

Master’s Degree in HealthcareAdministration, Business Administration or comparable degree.

Experience with strategy,planning, physician relations.
