Position Overview:The primary role of the Surgical Technician is in the scrub role, providing necessary and appropriate equipment, instrumentation and supplies in the service areas supported by the facility. The Surgical Technician also performs non-clinical activities and other unit tasks as delegated by the Staff RN to support the interdisciplinary care team.Qualifications:Education, Licensures and Certifications:
High School Diploma Required
Associate's Degree Preferred
Completion of Surgical Technician training program or prior experience as a Surgical Tech Required
Basic Life Support Certification - BLS Required
Certified Surgical Technician - CST Preferred
Experience:
Recent Operating Room experience in an acute care facility with competence to function in scrub role Required
Certification by the Association of Surgical Technicians Preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, ability to work with all levels of nursing personnel and physicians and assist them in a resource capacity, effective English written and verbal communication skills
