Assist in the daily material handling and storage of chemical and chemical related products.
Conduct loading and unloading of chemical products from trucks and trailers
Ensure product/load is free from defect/damage
Utilize proper storage procedures of chemical products in designated racks, bay and building
utilizing specialized material handling equipment and defined storage methods
Unload empty returnable containers from trucks and trailers, sort containers to be
reloaded on appropriate trailers for re-use or reconditioning
Store outdated containers in designated area
Ensure containers/totes/IBC’s are structurally sound and in compliance
Assist in loading of customer pick-ups
Prepare pallets for storage and/or transportation of product
Selection, preparation and staging of customer orders per customer requirements, such as lot
control numbers, additional stenciling or labeling requirements, packing and handling
requirements, sample delivery requirements and QC requirements
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
High School and/or GED required
Knowledgeable in DOT Hazardous Material regulations relating to compatibility of chemicals
in storage and shipping, preferred
Knowledgeable in OSHA and general Safety regulations/instructions/procedures
Knowledgeable in Emergency Response Procedures, preferred
Experience with reading and interpreting Bills of Lading/Manifest, MSDS sheets,
and/or manufacturers Certification of Analysis, preferred
Experience in utilizing various material handling equipment
Familiarity with DOT placard and labeling information, preferred
Chemical background, preferred
Must hold valid Driver’s License
Must be computer literate, Intermediate level
Minimum 2-3 years experience in Warehouse, Distribution or Transportation environment
Experience using Standard Operating Procedures
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, sit, and move; operate equipment such as pallet jacks, fork truck, handle, transport and storage of hoses, cables, totes and containers, occasional climbing of stairs, occasional use of copy machine, computer, printers and telephone; prepare and retrieve files for daily use and storage; frequent communication with internal individuals. The employee must occasionally lift, move or transport up to 80-100 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision and ability to adjust focus while reading.
