Sales Representative
Ascent Specialized, an independent operating segment of Ascent Global Logistics, is an asset-light U.S. based third party logistics provider, specializing in flatbed, over-dimensional, heavy haul, project management and intermodal/drayage solutions. Committed to providing customized solutions and premium customer service.
Overview:
Ascent Specialized is a growing logistics provider looking to expand our team. As a Sales Representative, you will be responsible for bringing in new business, securing freight bids and maintaining customer relationships. You will spend your days effectively communicating with both internal and external customers. Understanding our client’s needs and being able to provide creative solutions is vital to our success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to grow, generate revenue and manage your own book of business
Understand your clients, their business, processes, and identify areas needing improvement
Act as first point of contact for customers
Manage sales and business development for new and existing customers
Communicate, written and verbal, to both internal and external customers
Respond to customer requests promptly
Maintain accurate records
Quoting – Bid proposals, RFQ, etc.
Negotiate and book freight
Data entry – building loads in to our software management system
Provide updates and keep customers informed
Problem solve
Superior customer service
Multi-task and “juggle” several different projects at once
Effectively prioritize, manage your time, and meet deadlines
Generate ideas and come up with creative solutions, internally and externally
Identify potential new clients and opportunities
Work with Corporate to obtain credit for customers and ensure customers are paying their bills
Educate yourself regularly industry trends and shifting markets
Perform other duties as assigned

Education and experience:
2+ years of Sales, Account Management and/or Customer Service is desired but not required
Knowledge of US Geography and basic map reading skills is required
Knowledge of the trucking industry and cold calling skills are ideal
Ability to operate basic office equipment and learn software systems
