Looking for a new or improved appraisal career? Downie Valuation Services, Inc. is seeking the right candidate to join our appraisal team in a full-time, staff appraiser capacity.

Downie Valuation Services is a residential appraisal company that has served Northern California for the past 18 years.

This position is not an entry-level position. We are looking for Certified Residential appraisers with at least 1-2 years of experience.

We are seeking intelligent, hard-working candidates who are interested in inspecting and submitting up to 1200+ quality appraisal reports per year. Each staff appraiser will have a full-time assistant, and 1-2 appraiser trainees at their disposal.

Job Summary: (Overall purpose and objective)

Some initial training will be required. The Staff Appraiser is responsible for completing market value appraisals for residential real estate and other properties, learning through experience from some of the best appraisers in the business. Developing trainees into good appraisers. Candidates must be able to work well in a team environment.

Typical work day for the Staff Appraiser:

-Inspect 4-8 properties per day.

-Upload data to trainees.

-Assist trainees with report writing.

-Review trainee work prior to submitting reports.

-Research for the appraisal inspections.

-Assist with revisions.

-Occasionally assist with new business development.

Essential Functions: (The reason this job exists is to perform these functions. These functions are performed regularly, seriously impacting other jobs, and there are a limited number of employees whom performance of the function can be distributed).

Fully develop valuation analysis, conclusions and appraisal reports.

Complete appraisals including area descriptions, market analysis, site description and improvement descriptions.

Research, analyze, and report findings of regional and local area economic profiles including employment, population, household income, existing real estate market conditions, as well as identifying and reporting on development trends for the real estate market

Investigate and gather data for estimating the value of real estate, including but not limited to comparable data (land sales, lease and sale comparables), market statistics including vacancy, absorption, and other supply/demand factors, zoning ordinances and their applicability to the subject, tax and assessment data

Produce high quality reports accurately and on time, and to identify and resolve issues related to appraisals as they arise

Ability to perform appraisals on complex assignments is preferred. Desire to learn how to complete complex assignments is welcomed.

Education/Certification/Licenses:

Bachelor’s Degree in any field encouraged or a combination of education and experience.

Basic computer knowledge, Knowledge of A La Mode/Total or ability to learn; communication skills; committed work-ethic.

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents.

Demonstrated ability to solve advanced and complex problems regarding real estate appraisals.

Compensation:

Negotiable - Higher than typical for the industry.
