The Position:

This traineeship will be responsible for managing a School-Based Counselor (SBC) caseload and will be providing counseling with high risk youth in the Guadalupe Union School District. Services are provided at an FSA office, school site, and/or through telehealth. Clinical supervision is provided.

This position is only available in Santa Maria/Guadalupe.

Sample Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide ongoing counseling to children/youth and their families, under the supervision of a licensed therapist.

Formulate psychosocial diagnoses, develop clinical goals and treatment plans, perform clinically appropriate advocacy activities, and initiate clinically indicated interventions.

Assist in information gathering, assessment of needs, and resource referral regarding services for clients and their families, develop case plans, and provide follow-up and ongoing case management as needed.

Adhere to SBC program guidelines (see clinic services training program guidelines provided at orientation).

Participate in in a minimum of one agency outreach opportunity annually as assigned.

Maintain records according to agency policies, including but not limited to completing progress notes within 48 business hours, administrative paperwork, and other related clinical documentation duties in a timely manner.

Employment Standards:

Bachelor degree required.

Current enrollment in master’s or doctoral-level clinical program at an accredited university. Experience in counseling children and families preferred.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

Excellent analytical, computer, written and verbal communication skills

Professional attitude, teamwork, and ability to maintain confidentiality a must.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

This position is 20.0 hours per week, non-exempt.

Benefits include: 403(b) retirement plan, and holiday and sick leave available.

The pay rate is based on experience.
