School Based Therapist Santa Maria & Lompoc (Santa Maria & Lompoc)
The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking candidates for School Based Counselor positions for the 2020-2021 school year for Santa Maria and Lompoc elementary & junior high schools.
Valuable training experience for therapists interested in working with children/youth and families. Paid training, benefits and supervision provided. Opportunity to work for well-established county-wide non-profit organization in collaboration with the school district.
The right candidate will have a desire to learn skills to work with children and families experiencing trauma, low socio-economics, immigration and cultural challenges, incarceration, and substance abuse. Please note: Due to Covid and restrictions in seeing clients, School-Based Therapists must be comfortable (or learn to be) with utilizing Telehealth counseling (phone and Zoom).
Qualifications:
LMFT, LCSW, LPCC or Intern (AMFT, ACSW, APCC)will accept in-progress MA in Counseling/Psychology if enrolled in traineeship/practicum or equivalent experience(for example PPS School Counselor with relevant training).
Experience working with children (preferably in school setting)
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
Must be comfortable and capable of work with autonomy, independence
School Based Therapist will:
Provide on-going individual therapy services to identified students – Telehealth and/or in person
Meet with parents/guardians
Support and collaborate with teachers and administrators
Documentation/Maintain client charts: Completes client assessment, creates treatment plans in conjunction with client/family, and completes progress notes in a timely manner
Attend clinical supervision
Job hours worked coincide with school schedule (must be available during school hours). Position is for school year only (approx. 9 1/2 months). Interview process will be in June and July. Positions to begin in August 2020. Hourly rate depending on qualifications & experience. Full time & part time positions available (20-40 hrs/wk)
