Electrical Power Engineer

Requirements:

Electrical engineer with power and I&C design engineering with management experience who is capable of providing electrical and controls system design, technical analysis and resolution of engineering problems;

Provide direction and coordination with a team of engineers and designers to successfully complete design and implementation of medium and large utility;

Prepare electrical power equipment and controls specifications, and cost estimates;

Coordinate with other disciplines and with clients; and assisting the Electrical Engineering team with assigning work, mentoring staff, and scheduling resources.

Successful candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering university, with a minimum of ten (10-15) years experience working on electrical power and controls design for a variety of facilities, preferably renewable energy systems. Strong computer skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills are required.

PE registration is required or must be attainable by the candidate.

Key responsibilities will include participation in the planning, design and construction administration of electrical power systems for our clients. Additional responsibilities will include meeting with clients on the projects and making recommendations when necessary based on the clients' needs.

Essential Duties:

Work collaboratively with a team of engineers, designers and draftspersons, establish design criteria, prepare procurement specifications, and evaluate bids. Conceptualize plans, details and sections to accurately convey construction or installation requirements.

Design, size and specify electrical power equipment/systems, including Low-voltage and medium-voltage equipment: Transformers Switchgear. Grounding and lightning protection. Field surveys and document existing conditions, examine client operations, and determine power requirements.

Develop electrical power system and I&C drawings and specifications. Review documents, and drawings produced by other engineers and drafting personnel. Review vendor supplied drawings and/or information and coordinate transfer into project drawings. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines. Perform checkout of vendor provided equipment at vendor and/or jobsite and field pre-commissioning and start-up support.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Professional Engineering License in the State of Hawaii
