In this position you will :
Per protocol : Gathers assault history from patient and / or caretaker. Assesses psychological trauma and crisis intervention needs.
Demonstrates knowledge, skill and ability to accurately compile and assess complex physical and psychological health data.
Provides forensic exam of genital / anal region; collects physical and laboratory evidence. Provides brief screening exam for medical problems requiring physician attention.
Per standing orders, assess and treats prophylactically for STD’s and pregnancy.
Ability to perform medical examinations per protocol and recommend an effective course of action, i.e., identify problems requiring physician attention, follow- up or referral.
Provides court testimony on medical forensic sexual assault evidence collection.
Demonstrates knowledge of laws, regulations, and hospital procedures related to sexual assault, medical examination, reporting, and legal processes as appropriate to the position.
Qualifications :
Required qualifications for this position include :
2 years experience in a nursing setting
Preferred qualifications for this position include :
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Successful completion of Sexual Assault Examiner Training
Experience in women's health care or emergency care
License and Certification qualifications for this position include :
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
