In this position you will :
Support the Performance Improvement process
Follow and support hospital policies. Follow the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments and Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements
Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors
Patient-Care Positions : Consider individual needs in communication with, assessment of, and treatment of patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects to include infant through the elderly
Follow policies related to work attendance and dress code
Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors
Regular and predictable attendance is required for all positions. Failure to meet this standard can result in progressive discipline up to and including termination
Consider individual needs in communication with patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include all ages
Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior
Record temperatures and assures foods are at proper holding temperature. Take corrective action if food does not meet standards
Follow procedure by wearing gloves when handling any food item
Prepare cafeteria for each meal and in between meals as assigned, assuring all areas are set up in an attractive appetizing manner
Insure all areas are stocked and are readily available to customers
Serve employees, visitors, physicians, and volunteers cheerfully and respectfully
Observe proper portion control techniques
Clean and sanitize areas of the cafeteria as assigned
Clean and sanitize all equipment used for patient and cafeteria meal service
Maintain sanitation records as assigned
Maintain proper levels of all food items by observation and communication with cooks; communicate effectively with all areas of department
Perform cashiering duties; maintain accurate cash collection and cash reports
Prepare espresso with proper technique
Use / maintain / clean a variety of equipment such as cash register, espresso machine, coffeemakers, toaster, waffle irons, steam table, and soda dispenser
Test prepared foods by taking temperatures and tasting
Inventory patient and employee kitchen areas and restocks according to schedule
Understand diet types and restrictions necessary to perform the job
Has knowledge of unit practices and diet order processes
Communicate with appropriate staff regarding patient’s diet
Has knowledge of patient menu regarding good choices and ingredients
Perform basic functions within Meditech system to record and print patient diet, food and allergy information
Use sound judgment when offering alternate selections to patients, of modified diets, and does not offer foods contraindicated.
Refer a nutrition problem to the registered dietitian if beyond their scope
Attempt to handle patient request / complaint on own. Involve registered dietitian and / or other staff as needed
Accept additional work or reduced hours during periods or low patient census
Qualifications :
Required qualifications for this position includes :
High School Diploma -OR- GED
Washington State Department of Health Food Handler's Card
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing effectively in English
Basic Math Skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include :
Previous hospital -OR- food service experience
