Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Thermal Test Operations Manager 2 - Thermal Test Operations to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

The Thermal Test department works across all Space programs to test and qualify space-bound hardware in chambers throughout the Space Park campus.

The Thermal Test Operations Manager will manage department daily operations including technician scheduling / staffing, equipment maintenance / calibration, and ordering of consumables and small assets.

This role includes the management of people, processes, assets, and indirect budgets related to the execution of thermal test.

Typical Responsibilities Include :

Technician scheduling.

Forecasting resource utilization (people and equipment).

Driving process effectiveness, affordability initiatives and operational efficiency improvements.

Employee performance reviews.

Employee development and engagement.

Capital asset and preventative maintenance planning.

Indirect budget planning and management.

Special assignments in support of the functional home room.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years' of experience within a test environment OR High School Diploma or GED plus 9 years’ experience within a test environment

Experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an operations or test environment

Hands-on experience and / or technical knowledge of industrial equipment (pumps, compressors, blowers, valves)

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret and SCI Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications :

Active Top Secret / SCI clearance

STEM Degree

Experience in thermal testing of space flight hardware with knowledge of chamber operations and maintenance

Strong working knowledge of thermal test equipment including pumps (rough, cryo, turbo, diffusion), valves, heaters, PLC systems, leak detectors, QCM’s, RGA’s

Strong problem solving skills with ability to diagnose and troubleshoot thermal test equipment

Experience working with large scale liquid and gaseous nitrogen storage and pumping systems

Experience with calibrated equipment and metrology

Experience with writing, reviewing and interpreting technical documentation including test procedures and drawings

Experience with data acquisition systems and software applications related to thermal testing

Proficiency with standard Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
