The Accounting Manager is assigned to work with the Controller and CFO to lead the Accounting Dept in compliance with GAAP and other statutory regulations related to the company’s financial statements.

This position will report to the Controller.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

The Accounting Manager will supervise, train and mentor the AP team of 4-5, as well as others in the department. This includes planning, assigning, delegating and directing work;

appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Primary person to lead and ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close process, including preparation of information required by the parent company and its auditors.

Review of JEM payables for accuracy and proper authorization, as well as compliance with other company policies and procedures.

Prepare cash and expenditure forecasts used in weekly check runs.

Analysis of general ledger accounts, reconciliation of sub-ledgers to the general ledger and proper and timely resolution of reconciling items.

Review and monitor accounting activity to ensure the effectiveness and proper functioning of the system of internal controls and the accuracy of financial information.

Review and analysis of company insurance liabilities and management of the premium audits.

Analyze financial data and assist in preparation of financial statements, budgets, and supporting schedules.

Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department and evaluate their effectiveness and compliance.

Participates in the financial planning and organization of the company.

Assist in the schedule compilation for the parent company’s annual tax returns.

Provides information and consultation to the Controller, CFO, and top management of the company and its parent.

Collaboration with various internal departments to support overall department and company goals and objectives.

Other duties, as needed.

Public company experience including transaction support, SEC filings, SOX 404 compliance, ASC 605 / 606 and ASC 842 compliance.

Computer Equipment and Software :

Computer savvy with intermediate to advanced proficiency in all MS Office applications, especially in Excel.

Experience with JD Edwards or any integrated accounting system is helpful.

Experience with SignNow and / or other collaboration applications are helpful.

Education and Experience :

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Licensed CPA is a plus.

8+ years of accounting experience.

Requires strong general ledger, budgeting and forecasting, financial and analysis skills.

5+ years of managerial experience.

Construction experience preferred but not required.
