Reporting to the Department Manager and under general supervision, according to established procedures and protocols, the Cardiovascular Technician will perform treadmill stress testing, Holter monitor hook-ups, event monitors and the accompanying scanning or recording all test data and ensuring data is processed and labeled for review to be interpreted by dictating physicians.

Skills :

Data entry and editing of EKG’s.

Basic 12 Lead EKG interpretation.

Ability to recognize normal versus abnormal cardiac rhythms.

Ability to maintain composure during emergency situations.

Knowledge of equipment.

Ability to work with patients to the desired heart rate and recover the patient post procedure.

Ability to troubleshoot equipment and facilitates routine maintenance and repairs.

Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and / or family members, physicians and other office personnel.

Total knowledge of adult and pediatric cardiac anatomy, physiology, EKG arrhythmias, and medical terminology.

Ability to perform all aspects of non-invasive cardiac testing on newborns through geriatric patients, per strict department protocols.

Ability to read, write, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Analytical skills necessary in order to recognize abnormal heart rhythms and artifacts on test data, and to notify appropriate personnel.

Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner, and to handle constant interruptions (i.e. telephones, scheduling, physician requests, etc.).

Excellent telephone etiquette skills.

Bilingual English / Spanish communication skills preferred.

Position Requirements :

Education : H.S. Diploma or GED

H.S. Diploma or GED

Completion of EKG Tech Program from an accredited vocational school or college.

Experience :

6 months Experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting

Experience with Allscripts, IDX, Cardiowrite, Word, Excel, Meditech, and Citrix.

Certificates / License :

Cardiovascular Technician Certificate.

Current BLS certificate.

Preferred Position Requirements :

Education : Associate's Degree

Experience :

1 year preferred experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting.

EKG Technician experience.

Certificates / License :

Certificate in arrhythmia recognition / interpretation preferred.

Active CVT certification preferred.
