VP of Infrastructure Engineering

We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineering leader to help shape and transform the foundational infrastructure that powers and supports these capabilities, while innovating and creating new infrastructure and cloud technologies and capabilities to unlock even more possibilities for Viasat’s world-class, global network.

Viasat is searching for an experienced, infrastructure-savvy and software-oriented executive to lead our Global Infrastructure product and service engineering teams throughout the company.

This executive will bring an established track record of success building and growing high-performing, software and security-oriented infrastructure teams, while serving multiple constituencies, such as the modern enterprise, service provider, and engineering development communities, with a focus on objective metrics and results to measure success.

Working closely with a variety of Viasat’s internal business and technology teams, including Customer Engagement, Business Transformation, Platform, Global Connectivity, Enterprise IT, and Data & Analytics teams, as well as our business segment executive leadership teams, the Vice President of Infrastructure Engineering will create, communicate, and lead the execution of a strategic and transformational vision & roadmap for infrastructure at Viasat.

This position requires high caliber strategic and business decision-making, technology and market awareness, as well the initiative, influencing skills and ability to collaborate with Technology R&D and Executive / Business Segment leadership staff to transform that vision & roadmap into a reality to achieve our shared mission.

Job Responsibilities

Building, leading and growing a world-class infrastructure engineering product team

Aligning the infrastructure product and service roadmap with the overall company strategic goals and technical vision

Leading the definition, research and development, and architecture of next-generation infrastructure and cloud technologies

Acting as a strategic technology partner and service provider for our business segments and other technology domain areas by developing and delivering on an infrastructure technology roadmap to meet their objectives while keeping on the leading edge of where the infrastructure technology domain is heading

Overseeing the infrastructure product development and lifecycle management process from inception to product delivery through sustaining operations to appropriate technology refresh and replacement

Partnering with business segment and technology platform product management to ensure the proper positioning and adoption of infrastructure technology products and services

Engage in, facilitate, manage and grow partnerships and relationships, internally and externally, to continue the evolution and delivery of a world class infrastructure technology set of solutions

Requirements

At least 10+ years of experience in Infrastructure product development and management, and / or hyperscale" infrastructure technology development and service delivery

At least 5-7 years’ experience managing a sizeable team infrastructure and / or software product development teams, integrating both in-house infrastructure product, service and tool development as well as leveraging 3rd party / service provider infrastructure solutions

Experience with, and demonstrated delivery leveraging Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and infrastructure as code" at scale in a heterogeneous environment supporting both cloud native and optimized on-premise / purpose built infrastructure solutions

Excellent listening, oral and written communication / presentation skills with strong ability to influence people at all levels and in various functions

Strong awareness of technology and architecture trends and their potential influence and applicability to Viasat’s business and strategic objectives, while being able to demonstrate the business and market value of said trends to Viasat

Strong teaming skills and experience to bring together diverse views, disciplines, and approaches

Creates, fosters, and protects an inclusive, collaborative and fun way of learning, sharing experiences, and enabling the growth of Viasat team members

BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree required, Masters
