Stronghold Engineering is an award winning Electrical and General Contractor is seeking a strong, experienced Civil Project Engineer to help support our growth in our Civil/Railroad Division. This position will report directly to Stronghold's Corporate office in Perris, CA, so there are options for relocation and/or telecommuting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:+ + Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of railroad projects

Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects

Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis

Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations

Perform or oversee soil testing to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations

Test building materials, such as concrete, asphalt, or steel, for use in particular projects

Provide cost estimates for materials, equipment, or labor to determine a project’s economic feasibility

Use design software to plan and design transportation systems, hydraulic systems, and structures in line with industry and government standards

Perform or oversee, surveying operations to establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction

Present their findings to the public on topics such as bid proposals, environmental impact statements, or property descriptions

Manage the repair, maintenance, and replacement of public and private infrastructure

Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation / Certificates / Licenses

Bachelor's Degree

Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Experience

4 + years’ experience in the construction industry

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Able to work in a productive manner independently and with others in a team environment.

Excellent computer skills and proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project and tool tracking software programs.

Able to communicate effectively verbally and in a written form.

Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to computer rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to read, interpret and understand plans, specifications, construction cost data and other contract documents to identify any errors, omissions, code violations and design inadequacies.
