Experienced Logistics Coordinator/Dispatcher

Kemet is seeking a Dispatcher for our domestic import and export operations to manage its port operations consisting of 10 to 100 drivers who are going to the LA/LB ports day and night. This position will help coordinate independent drivers ensuring they are properly loaded.

The right person will be a team player and be comfortable in high paced challenging environment. Must have knowledge and ability as a seasoned dispatcher and also have the capability manage the overall operations as well as transportation employees.

Responsibilities:

Track and maintain control of equipment to minimize per diem and demurrage

Daily management and coordination of shipments with both customer and drivers

Establish and coordinate schedule with drivers and shipments

Track and trace all shipments and monitor load status

Maintain customer and driver relationships

Enter orders into the Trinium system

Help driver trouble shoot issues as they come up

Be the primary contact for carriers

Duties as assigned

Requirements:

5 years’ experience dispatching in a Drayage and/or Intermodal environment

Knowledgeable of Los Angeles & Long Beach Harbor Terminals

Experience in working with contractors and company drivers

Current knowledge of D.O.T. regulations

Knowledge of geographic locations and the ability to calculate time and distance

The ability to assist in the management of driver turnover and retention

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Working knowledge of Trinium, Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs

Good communication skills via telephone and email

Team player with proven ability to work well under pressure and constant deadlines

Problem solving skills with the ability to seek alternative solutions for dilemmas and problems

Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up

Can quickly learn new skills and collaborate where needed

Bilingual is a plus (Spanish/English)

Job Type: Drayage / Intermodal Dispatcher

Full-time Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Schedule:

Monday to Friday

Some Saturdays

Day and Night shift (Available)
