Job Description

  • Provides business-wide direction in areas of policy and planning for human resource related activities
  • Leads the administration of all benefits programs, ensuring best-in-class customer service to staff, legal compliance, and cost efficiencies for the company
  • Serves as subject matter expert on employee relations and counsels and advises Management to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Identifies and ensures compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions; ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance
  • Execute human resource planning (HRP) across the businesses to identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps and develop specific programs for filling those gaps.
  • Leads the tactical execution of the recruiting function for the company by utilizing innovative channels, recruiting partners, and techniques and best practices to attract and acquire talent efficiently and effectively
  • Creates and/or updates job descriptions to ensure that new and existing roles clearly define scope of responsibilities and measures of success
  • Leads the company’s performance management program, including, but not limited to goal setting, coaching and feedback, performance appraisals, performance improvement, development planning, total compensation, and reward and recognition programs
  • Provides guidance to leaders in managing union grievance processes
  • Creates and manages the on-boarding process that will ensure our employees are successfully integrated into new positions
  • Coordinate and maintain an effective company-wide training and development program
  • Communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations to personnel
  • Oversee company payroll processes, compensation plans, employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), performance review processes, job description development and maintenance, etc.
  • Maintain manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of providing accurate information in compliance with regulatory requirements and established guidelines
  • Maintain solid communication and positive relationships among employees
  • Responsible for company-wide safety and worker comp programs and related training programs; work with outside vendors to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’sdegree required
  • Advanceddegree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management isdesirable
  • Understanding of working in a union environment
  • Thorough grasp of California employment law
  • Possessexcellent organization skills
  • Abilityto prioritize multiple tasks in a busy work environment
  • Reliabilityof task completion and follow-up
