Job Description

The Health Tools team builds tools and systems to fairly and consistently enforce our policies so that our users feel safe to participate in the public conversation.

Who we are

We build and maintain tools used by our moderation agents to review potential policy violations and take appropriate action. We own the platform for managing the review workflows that are used by teams across the company to power their tools.

Qualifications

Who You Are

  • You’ve played product engineering roles, and have experience translating complex requirements into scalable, extensible implementations.
  • You are familiar with standard software engineering methodology, e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation.
  • You know when it’s okay to take on technical debt, and you eventually pay it down.
  • You think critically about users’ and partner teams’ needs and can distill those findings into features and products.
  • You ground your decisions with data and reasoning and can adapt to new information to make informed choices.
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and interact effectively with others.
  • You bring thoughtful perspectives, empathy, creativity, and a positive attitude to solve problems at scale.
  • You’re willing to be coached and to coach others.

What You’ll Do

Here are some of the regular duties of the role:

  • Craft elegant solutions to solve problems and fix bugs
  • Code primarily in Scala, Typescript and Javascript built on open source libraries such as React.
  • Support and maintain your software systems to ensure a high quality customer experience.
  • Answer customer questions and update our documentation.
  • Collaborate with and learn from teammates, product managers and cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience building full-stack web applications.
  • Experience with or desire to learn Scala.
