We have an immediate opening for a Certified Medical Assistant for our Nephrology practice.

Certified Medical Assistant responsible for assisting physicians/nurses by performing routine administrative duties and handling basic clinical tasks.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Assesses, analyzes and plans individualized care of patients.

Takes medical histories and records vital signs, explains treatment procedures to patients, prepares patients for examination, and assists physician during examinations.

Documents patient information for medical record including vital signs and weight.

Collects and prepares laboratory specimens or performs basic laboratory tests on the premises, disposes of contaminated supplies, and sterilizes medical instruments as applicable.

Arranges examining-room instruments as applicable and equipment, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, and keeps waiting and examining rooms neat and clean.

Reviews and administers orders given by the physicians.

Reviews daily labs and contacts the doctor as needed.

Schedules procedures and obtains referrals for these services if needed.

Administer injections and flu and hepatitis vaccines as prescribed.

Triage incoming patients for clinics.

Maintains accurate charting.

Files paperwork accordingly.

Reviews charts and prepares them for doctor's visit.

Travels to satellite clinics as needed and is flexible with work hours.

Maintains confidentially of all client/doctor related information.

Completes other duties as assigned and directed by the physician, supervisor, and/or manager.

Qualifications

Two years of medical assistant experience is desirable.

Bi-lingual preferred not required.

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Education

Certified Medical Assistant certification required, Accredited from a national or state approved school of medical assistant.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical assisting practice and procedures with an emphasis on taking medical histories and vitals.

Abilities:

Ability to respond flexibly to changing workload or patient assignments.

Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff members and patients.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
