Position Summary : This position is responsible to plan, organize, implement and evaluate Therapeutic Recreation and leisure programs to psychiatric patients, including group leisure time and physical education activities, which are designed to maximize the social, physical, cognitive and emotional functioning of patients so that a desirable quality of leisure life can be attained.

Qualifications

Bachelor?s degree from an accredited school of therapeutic recreation, physical education, dance movement, music therapy or related field.

Requires at least one (1) year of experience providing instruction in a recreational program; or in a closely related work;

or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Previous experience in health care strongly preferred.

Must secure AHA healthcare provider CPR within 30 days of employment. Demonstrate a caring, friendly and professional demanor with the ability to encourage and appropriately support others.

Demonstrate knowledge of and exhibit skill in evaluating and treating adolescent, adult and geriatric persons with psychosocial and cognitive problems.

Must be able to communicate and work effectively with people of differing educational and cultural backgrounds. Must be organized and able to prioritize activities.

Must be cognizant of age appropriate activities.
