The Engineer II willsupport the Business Development R&D department to actively engage in thedevelopment of new medical devices used in InfusionTherapy, Oncology and Critical Care.

The incumbent will be heavilyinvolved with hands-on work to design, set-up and execute studies (exploratory,bench, and V&V) for product development.

You will use your fundamentalknowledge to define problems and select approaches to develop products andprocesses, which may lead to new business opportunities and products.

Key responsibilitiesof this position include supporting the development of new products through theuse of sound engineering principles, utilizing experimental, computational andanalytical methods to address a range of technical challenges.

The candidatewill often be required to understand complex issues and investigate specificareas of interest / opportunity for business development which may span multiplejob areas or specialties.

A successful candidate will have strongattention to detail and an ability to quickly understand new concepts andtechnologies to distill into new product concepts, often involving the use of medicalplastics / polymers and molding processes.

EssentialDuties & Responsibilities

Assistin exploring and finding solutions to complex problems

Designof experiments and test methods to conduct hands-on testing (Exploratory, Bench,V&V) of concepts or products to analyze performance.

Abilityto maintain & operate lab equipment after short training, such as Tensiletest systems, digital microscopes, 3D printers.

Adhereto established design control processes and good engineering practices.

Documentengineering work according to internal company standards.

Design and model devicesfor various product lines using SolidWorks.

Knowledge,Skills & Qualifications

Strongobservation skills and problem-solving ability

Experiencewith design of experiments (DOE) and statistical methods

Knowledgeof medical grade plastics, general injection molding principles, common joiningmethods of plastics, etc.

Abilityto work both independently and in cross functional teams.

Knowledgeof medical device manufacturing practices

BasicSolidWorks competency required

Educationand Experience

Bachelorof Science degree from an accredited college or university in MechanicalEngineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field

2-4 years of experience in Medical Device Product Development and / or Research andDevelopment

Candidateswith experience in material science, inorganicchemistry, organic chemistry, or physical chemistry is an asset.

Academicresearch experience is desirable

MinimumQualifications

Must be atleast 18 years of age

Travel Requirements

Typically requires travel less than5% of the time

Physical Requirementsand Work Environment

Thisis largely a sedentary role.

Thisjob operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standardoffice equipment.
