The PA and NP will coordinate the patient plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in collaboration with the healthcare team and in compliance with all agency, local, state, federal laws and regulations.What you bring to the tableEducation: Completion of a master’s program in nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAsExperience: Previous correctional/detention facility experience Minimum two (2) years’ experienceLicenses/Certifications: Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHAWhat you will do

Hold daily sick call, examine patients and carry out treatment according to standardized procedures and protocols

Carry out physicians’ orders

Consult with physician about non-emergency conditions falling outside protocol parameters

Identify medical emergency conditions and provide appropriate emergency care and arrange for transfer to the nearest appropriate facility

Admit patients to the OHU and coordinate with nursing staff to develop treatment plans

Perform annual physical examinations on all persons served as scheduled, order appropriate laboratory studies, and classify appropriate worker status

Repair simple lacerations and remove sutures

Perform minor surgical procedures (i.e. I&D, basic splinting and toe nail removal)

Responsible for recognizing and treating non-psychotic behavioral health disorders pharmacologically as indicated

In collaboration with the Psychiatrist, provide ongoing care of patients who are stable on maintenance doses of non-psychotic medications, as well as treat cases of situational stressors, causing anxiety, depression and sleep disorders

Successfully complete and continue practice of the OneCare team’s educational program, Medical Provider Training for Prescribing Mental Health Drugs

Document all findings using the S.O.A.P.E. method

Ensure confidentiality of persons served health information

Provide discharge planning as required

Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities

Attend quarterly Quality Management meetings

Perform other duties as assigned.
