POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will work as part of a CHSW team of mental health professionals to provide wrap-around services to CHSW consumers on an Individual Treatment/ Service Plan. Will perform peer support duties to either adults or school age (elementary through high-school) CHSW consumers. May provide parent education activities, resource referral and/or positive mentorship to youth along with case management in a variety of settings. Has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Documents services and progress notes

· Follows goals according to the Individual Treatment/Service Plan

· Ability to submit accurate billing data according to the program requirements

· At minimum, consumer visits once per month and limited to four (4) hours per day, per consumer

· Seeks regular supervision from a mental health professional or group supervision with a qualified supervisor/consultant

· Services may include, but not limited to, facilitating self-help groups, telephone support lines, drop-in centers, and other case management tasks as needed

· Provides peer support at CHSW offices, schools, consumer’s homes and/or in the community at locations where consumers are known to gather, such as shelters, parks, community centers

· Facilitates and coordinates a wide range of scheduled activities to assist consumers in exercising control over their own lives and recovery process for themselves and/or their child/adolescent (e.g. to promote socialization, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and maintenance of community living skills)

· Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

· Advocates for the values of a diverse population within CHSW and the Community

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· An understanding of the recovery process for mental health and chemical dependency

· Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse work environment and community

· Understanding of the provision of services to a diverse socioeconomic and cultural population

· Ability to work as part of a team to help consumers achieve their goals

· An understanding of local community services

· Ability to establish and maintain relationships with community agencies and service providers

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is split between clients’ homes, office, and car. The following list is representative of what employees encounter while performing the essential functions of this job:

· Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, printers, phones)

· Typical office lighting and temperatures

· Moderate interruptions

· Ability to work in a confined area

· Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period

· Home visits involve environments that may include pets, residual smoke, and other typical household hazards like dirt and other spills (Note: we do not allow smoking during visits)

· Travel for visits occurs often

· Travel for professional development occurs annually

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work

· Ability to sit on the floor, crouch, or kneel regularly during home visits

· Ability to lift children if necessary

· Ability to sit in car frequently

· Regular, predictable attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must identify as a peer according to the following definition: Peer – individual must have first-hand knowledge of a behavioral health condition or substance abuse issue, whether or not they received treatment or medication or have personal experience as a parent/caregiver of a child or youth with behavioral health needs

· Certification from the WA State Department of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) to provide peer support services that includes taking a 30-hr training and passing examination from DBHR

· Must be available to be on call 24/7 (21 and older)

· A one-step Mantoux TB skin test prior to start of employment. For those who have previously tested positive, documented proof of treatment from a doctor or a negative chest x-ray must be provided

· Required Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential or other related license (obtained after hire)

· Must successfully pass a criminal history background check

· Successful completion of a criminal background check and be capable of obtaining jail clearance

· Successful completion of a drivers check if position requires driving on a regular basis (at least three times per week) or drives consumers. Must not have more than two driving incidents within the last three years

SALARY: $16.63 to $18.05/hour DOE + Benefits + 401K
