Job Description
KIOXIA America Inc., formerly Toshiba Memory America Inc., is looking for a
Principal SSD Firmware Engineer to assist in the Firmware Engineer team. The ideal candidate will own SSD Firmware architecture as well as provide technical leadership to a team of firmware engineers.This role reports to the Sr Manager, SSDD BU.
Responsibilities:- Acknowledged across groups as an expert in an area of SSD Firmware architecture.
- Applies advanced technical expertise to manage complex programs related to SSD Firmware development.
- Contributes to and help shape KIOXIA’s technical business strategy.
- Researches new technology from a variety of industries.
- Recommends and implements changes in technical/business processes.
- Helps develop and implement innovative solutions for specialized, complex technical issues.
- Works proactively; identifies and helps prevent problems that may cross disciplines.
- Fully understands and quantifies project risks with impact.
- Accomplishes goals and objectives independently.
- Builds and leads teams, influencing decisions and results.
- Provides regular technical advice and direction to technical team(s) and management.
- Models and helps set high standards for effective interactions.
- 10+ years of experience in firmware development and 5+ years of experience in direct SSD firmware development.
- Strong storage domain experience.
- Firmware design/implementation/debug experience on multi-CPU SoCs.
- Strong experience in NAND, NAND management, SSD Firmware and related algorithms.
- Strong experience in SSD testing tools.
- Strong experience in SSD performance characterization and latest SSD domain trends.
- Knowledge of NVMe/SATA/AHCI protocols
- Strong programming experience in C / C
- 18+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s;
- 16+ years of experience with a Master’s degree;
- PhD with 10+ years of experience
