DISH’s Manufacturing and Distribution team ensures the high-quality condition of millions of satellite receivers and remote controls. State-of-the-art facilities in Denver, CO, El Paso, TX, Spartanburg, SC, Suwanee, GA, and Englewood, CO, use advanced diagnostic tools and automated equipment to test, refurbish and redistribute hardware to customers.

SUMMARY

The position requires the ability to coach employees, identify and resolve issues, concerns and equipment problems. The position also requires individuals to think independently. This technician also provides support on data tracking, time collection, audits, preparing work instructions and collaborates on special projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the production and build out of highly technical broadcasting equipment solutions to support the growing and ever-changing nature of our business. This includes process initialization, implementation and sustaining efforts.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and electronic issues to production equipment is operating according to requirements and specifications. Some of the equipment includes conveyors, industrial robots, scanners, PLCs, case erectors and others.

  • Be able to interact with a proactive attitude and customer mindset when working with production associates, supervisors and coworkers from other areas or departments.
  • Ability to perform his/her daily duties following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Sequence of Events (SOE) and other related documentation.

  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications and work orders to determine materials requirements or troubleshooting instructions or ensure compliance.

  • Be able to work on specific items with little to no supervision as well as being part of a crew or team.

  • Experience with safe operation of standard power tools (drills, drivers, saws, etc.) highly desired.

  • Experience working with a Maintenance management system such as SAP-Maintenance or Mpulse is desired.

  • Familiarity with 5S, TPM and other Lean Manufacturing techniques.

  • Assist other groups (IT, Maintenance, Facilities, Production) as required or instructed by supervisor

  • Physical ability to lift and move production equipment such as benches, racks, carts, cabling and computers.

Additional requirements include the following:

  • Assists the group lead with work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the team on end of shift summaries.

  • Audits team member performance for quality, productivity and alignment with standards.

  • Supports the labor plan by filling in for missing personnel; accomplishing work results; driving established priorities; monitoring progress; resolving problems; reporting results to the shift supervisor.

  • Validates and provides input for trials and projects; implementing change.

  • Collect data to prepare time studies, reports, work instructions, visual aids, flowcharts and be able to submit recommendations for change.

  • Assist with special engineering projects such as new product introduction, layout and/or process changes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaches staff with the support of the Engineering Group Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Position requires basic knowledge of time studies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Associates Degree in electronics, mechanical or Technical school or service training beyond high school preferred.

SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and instructional emails. Need to be able to work alone and in groups. Ability to write simple correspondence and activity reports. Good communication skills, detail oriented with good organizational skills. Must know how to use a computer (Windows environment). Knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides and maintenance management software is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems that involve several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to work under pressure.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk around considerably, kneel down, crawl in confined spaces, use ladders and not be afraid of heights. Must have the ability to lift 45 lbs, sit for long periods of time and stand for long periods of time.
