Job Description

Position Summary:

Perform duties to pack, ship, track and store prescription medications and supplies, working within the limits of prescribed routines.

Essential Functions:

  • Work from computerized prescription orders and shipping labels.
  • Package medication orders and examine ancillary supplies to ensure quality and include with welcome kits, and accompanying paperwork, ensuring compliance with transportation requirements for stability and conformance with established protocols.
  • Receive, stock, and maintain inventory of Pharmacy packing and shipping supplies. Receive administrative supply orders and distribute to appropriate storage areas within the facility.
  • May coordinate equipment pick-ups that are due for maintenance from patients.
  • Maintain ice brick preparation and rotate as required to facilitate appropriate freezing.
  • Process delivery ticket tracking, monitoring, and exceptions through carriers’ electronic systems.
  • Ensure that shipping operations support the achievement of customer service goals and comply with customer service protocols in all internal and external business interactions.
  • Provide Pharmacy administrative and inventory control support as required.
  • Monitor and maintain clean work area, equipment, and activities to ensure that conditions are compliant with regulatory, training, procedural and policy requirements for operation and safety.
  • Assist with training new associates in shipping operations.
  • Conduct deliveries for assigned route as needed for specified locations.

Other Duties:

  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

Qualifications

Competency:

  • Demonstrated ability to lift and move heavy packages or materials (up to 50 lbs.) with or without assistive devices and in compliance with safe handling procedures.
  • Demonstrated orientation to careful attention to detail and accuracy in work activities.
  • Clear understanding of basic healthcare protocols for privacy.
  • Skilled utilization of computer software in a Windows environment including MS Word and Excel.
  • Some jurisdictions may require that this position is bilingual in Spanish/English.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus some additional specialized training in shipping routines.
  • Minimum 1 year’ relevant warehouse experience, preferably in a pharmacy setting.
  • Some jurisdictions may require Registered PhT in the jurisdiction covering the Pharmacy. If so, CPhT is preferred.
  • CPR+ or other pharmacy system experience is desirable.
  • Safe driving record is required in locations utilizing Shipping Coordinator for deliveries.
