This is a high visibility role which will allow you to interact with traders and senior management to assure that pricing, hedging and risk evaluation techniques are applied and monitored. In order to succeed you must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills along with good communication skills. This position will report to the Director of Product Control within the Risk group and will be located in our Princeton, NJ office.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Working closely with traders, risk analysts and senior management to analyze value and provide risk analysis around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including power generation, load contracts, complex derivatives, hedging strategies and trading assets
Develop and monitor position reports, PnL reports for energy generation portfolio
Mark end-of-day curves in the risk system
Leverage problem solving, analytical skills, and new technologies to enhance and automate various risk processes
Collaborate effectively within the Risk team and other departments on issues/projects
Support reporting requests from NRG s internal and external auditors
Work closely with IT on risk system improvements and testing new enhancements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in a quantitative field like Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Science, Computer Science, or 4 years of equivalent quantitative experience
At least 2 years of work experience in a related quantitative field
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year of experience in energy markets a plus; electricity, natural gas, renewables and/or oil markets
1 year of experience with derivative pricing and/or various middle office functions
1 year of experience with common financial risk metrics and control methodologies
1 year of experience using relational databases and SQL
Master's Degree in a quantitative field
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong financial acumen and analysis background
Extensive experience with MS Excel, and highly skilled with other MS Office products including Access, Word and PowerPoint
Attention to detail, diligent, strong organizational skills, curious, confident and creative
Experience writing VBA code in Excel or comparable programming work
Ability to plan/manage multiple priorities while committed to deadlines in a demanding environment
Works well in an open office environment
Proficient in effectively communicating to a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form
