Providence is calling a Practice Support Specialist (Primary Care, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Physician Services Organization in Anchorage, Alaska.

We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will :

Greet patients / families, register, verify and update necessary information (including prepaid eligibility) on the system.

Ensure scheduled visits for patients are with appropriate authorizations. Assist the patient with the completion of routine forms.

Report problems and irregularities.

Ensure that the patient's next appointment is scheduled (if appropriate) and referrals are coordinated (if appropriate) prior to patient leaving the office.

Answer telephone and disburses callers in a friendly, prompt and accurate manner. Provide accurate information or takes messages when appropriate.

Retrieve and disburse messages from answering service / machine and facsimile machine.

Schedule, cancel, reschedule and confirm office visits according to office scheduling procedure. Track and recall patients when appropriate for chronic care follow-up and preventive care visits.

Prepare for the next day’s activities. This includes printing the physicians' schedules (alphabetically and chronologically), pulling the medical records and printing encounter forms and demographic sheets.

Ensure maintenance of medical records. This includes the timely and accurate retrieval and storing of patient records; submitting the medical record to physician for review (i.

e. lab results, signature, telephone messages and referrals); filing of dictation, lab work results and physician referral reports;

and responding to medical records requests, insuring patient confidentiality at all times.

Maintain and updates current information on physician's schedule. Assist physician in keeping to the schedule in order to minimize patient wait times.

Qualifications :

Required qualifications for this position include :

High school diploma or GED

Using a computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, calculator and photocopier

Preferred qualification for this position include :

1 year experience in a medical office setting
