Position Summary

Reporting to the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, the Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting in the budgeting and forecasting of a fast paced growing company.

Additional responsibilities included around business operations such as sales and use tax compliance and permit / license compliance with state and federal jurisdictions.

Communication with business partners in operations, banking, and accounting. This is a key role in providing financial inputs and trend analysis that directly play into business decisions that affect the future of the company.

Key Responsibilities of a Financial Analyst :

Financial : Assist in budget preparation, reporting, and analysisUtilize future value and present value techniquesRecommend actions by analyzing historical financial statements and forecasting future trendsResearch expenditures through various methods such as trend analysis, invoice research, personal interviews and propose and implement budget solutions.

Preparing ad-hoc reporting and proposals that support major business decisionsConduct departmental financial reviews with various key management membersAssist in investment management and banking requirements such as reporting, bank audits, and analysis of future cash needs.

Prepare and analyze trends in key performance indicators (KPI)Business Operation Support : Maintain compliance with government requirements by filing business licenses, permits, and unclaimed property reports.

Maintain project management of new store opening checklists as project manager and compliance touchpoint.Owner of design and implementation of internal controls around store financial requirements such as exemption certificates and deposit logsSales and Use Tax : Oversee the transmission of data from SAP to Sales and Use Tax Service Provider, review service provider accuracy, approve or request corrections as needed with minimal supervision.

Prepare monthly journal entry of Sales and Use Tax payableOversee ad hoc state sales tax audits as primary contact with state auditors and make decisions to mitigate tax penalties and fees.

Innovate and establish internal controls around financial and business operations’ day to day duties.Streamline existing processes between business counterparts and finance.

Design and implement automation efficiencies within the finance organization

Qualifications and Skills Required for a Financial Analyst :

1-2 years of business experience in Finance or Accounting.Flexibility to work extended hours, when necessary.Communication : Strong listening and interpersonal skills.

Candidates must possess good verbal and written communication skills and have experience working effectively with all levels in the company from analysts to senior management.

Analytical : Candidates must have strong analytical skills and the ability to make financial recommendations based on findings.

Computer : Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Windows-based accounting system knowledge.

Organization : Candidates must be able to organize multiple priorities to ensure that resources are properly allocated to meet objectives.

They must have strong organizational and intuitive skills to make sound decisions without direct supervision.

Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
