As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for providing skilled support in maintaining and repairing the physical plant and equipment required by the manufacturing operation.

Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep structure, systems, utilities, appearance, and general upkeep of the plant facilities.

Duties may involve pipefitting, insulating, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, and repairing buildings, floors or stairs.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Responsible for general maintenance and operational duties which include, but are limited to, performance testing, maintenance, adjustment, and care of the following : perform scheduled, preventative and repair maintenance on plant facilities to keep building systems operating efficiently, or to keep the physical condition of the building and grounds from deteriorating.

May include power management (solar), security, HVAC, building fire alarm systems, computer room fire suppression systems, computer room UPS backup systems and generators.

Maintain and upgrade electrical fixtures, ballast replacements and exterior lighting as needed. Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, or basic equipment.

Repair and assemble office furniture as needed. Troubleshoot, evaluate and make recommendations to upgrade maintenance operations and / or implement savings opportunities.

Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits. (50%)

Diagnose problems and determine how to correct them, checking blue prints and electrical schematics, repair manuals, part catalogs, as necessary.

Assist in determining the options available, and / or parts needed to make necessary repairs. Maintain records of maintenance work as required.

Maintain inventory of lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and other building related supplies and tools. (40%)

Proactively inspect and perform daily checks of the grounds for security breaches or other needs identified during the process.

Inspect grounds and building appearance and condition. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too :

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Technical training related to the position preferred.

5 years related to facilities maintenance or similar experience.

Facilities Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance on facilities and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

Critical Thinking : Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Quality Control Analysis : Conduct tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Mechanical : Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

Manual Dexterity : The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm or your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.

Deductive Reasoning : The ability to apply general rules to specific problem to produce answers which make sense.

Equipment : Operate an industrial truck.

Safety : Prioritize safety consistently by demonstrating safe work practices and promoting a safe work environment.

Communication Skills : Speak in the most effective way to relay information. Listen and ask questions to ensure understanding.

Self-management Skills : Use time efficiently to complete tasks.

Ability to Work Independently : Follow both written and oral instructions, including safety guidelines, work instructions, and company policies.

Customer Service Skills : Solve customer problems quickly and effectively and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships.

Readily readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.

Quality Standards Knowledge : Demonstrate an understanding of quality standards and quality control processes.

Driving Record : Possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.
